Pro Sports Wrap - by Sam Ruesler

Ready for Saturdays and Sundays

August 13th 2012 18:28
The Olympics are now over and all the athletes are back home in their respective countries. The United States winning the medal count with China right behind them. Britain had their most successful Olympics in a long long time. Now that all of it is over we may talk about these great athletes for a few more days but then forget about them unless they come back in 4 years.

We will have great memories from these great moments over the past 2 weeks, but now we are all ready for some football, even if we don't have Hank Williams Jr to tell us. And there are already story lines in both the NFL and NCAA. Chad Johnson being arrested and let go by the Dolphins is probably the biggest story. Now everyone is wondering if some other team will take a shot at him. Then there's Tyrann Mathie of LSU; the honey badger got removed from the team for violating the substence abuse policy again. He was a huge play maker and a big reason they made it to the National Championship game last year. The team will still obviously be a top team but will this be a game changer? Will he come back next year to the team?

Outside of those 2 big topics there is still the ever popular fantasy football, which I will be taking part in like every year. ESPN has their preseason fantasy rankings and analysis, but I never pay attention to those; they may be pros but not always right. Also how will all the teams in college play in their new conference after realignment? Mizzou and Texas A&M now will have to deal with the great defenses of the SEC, while TCU and West Virginia moved to face the power offenses of the Big 12.

Lastly Adrew Luck did have a great game yesterday but stop the praise, it is only the preseason and it was against the Rams. The Colts were the worse team in the NFL last year but Stl wasn't too far behind. Yes Luck may end up being one of the greats but just wait til he actually plays a real game in the NFL. There are many other great rookies I'm excited to see play as well, luckily I'm a baseball fan and have the Cardinals to keep me busy over the next month.
