10/2011 Detroit Lions Top 20 Players

October 19th 2011 15:53
1. WR Calvin Johnson- Really the only reason why this offense functions. Stafford's fine, but he would be half the player with Johnson. Of course that goes with most QBs, but Stafford isn't really all that good. He's above-average- which isn't bad- but nothing more; he's overrated by a lot of guys.

2. DE Cliff Avril- Yeah, the underrated Avril is their second best player. To tell you the truth, the Lions aren't really that talented. You may think I am underrating Suh, but the young tackle has a lot to prove. For as great as he is as a pass rusher, Avril is better. One other thing, Avril isn't a liability against the run.

3. DT Ndamukong Suh- A little overrated, but he is still a beast.

4. DT Corey Williams- Loses too much credit because of Suh, as he is just as good as the sophomore sensation. Did I also say that the Lions are overrated as a team and playing over their heads? Like, their offense has only one strength, and that's a passing offense that should be described exactly how I said Matt Stafford is as a player; above-average, but nothing more. Defensively, the front seven is great; but the secondary sucks.

5. QB Matthew Stafford- There really wasn't that much of a choice.

6. LB Stephen Tulloch- He's getting lucky in coverage this year, but I never doubt the guy as a run-stuffer.

7. LB Justin Durant- The only thing he's good at is stopping the run, but boy does he mess with running backs.

8. S Louis Delmas- The only strength in the secondary. Chris Houston is alright, but Delmas is the only guy who you can truly call "good". And even then, he really isn't that good.

9. LT Jeff Backus- The only solid player on a very poor line that got destroyed- as expected- by the Smiths.

10. DE Kyle Vanden Bosch- He really needs to improve though, because he has been pretty bad these past two seasons.

11. TE Brandon Pettigrew- He drops everything and is an overrated player, but he's better than the guys behind him on this list.

12. LB DeAndre Levy- At least he isn't their best linebacker anymore. That's not a knock on Levy, but my knock is that he is above-average at best.

13. DT Sammie Hill- Underrated player who is yet another guy on the line overshadowed by Suh.

14. CB Eric Wright- While he isn't such a good player in coverage, Wright is one of the best corners in the league against the run. As far as physical corners go, Wright is probably in the top ten.

15. S Amari Spievey- Schwartz, I'm still waiting for that breakout you promised me. He's been OK, but I think he still has something to prove.

16. QB Shaun Hill- He actually isn't that much worse than Stafford, but he is worse.

17. WR Nate Burleson- He can catch and run routes, what more do you want?

18. DE Lawrence Jackson- I'm running out of ideas.

19. DT Nick Fairley- Yeah, this is definitely a "potential" ranking.

20. RB Jahvid Best- I really tried to avoid putting him on this list, but I ran out of ideas. He can catch and is explosive, but he is a terrible running back overall. Why? It's only because he just isn't very good at actually consistently getting yardage! Simply put, he can't run! This is a guy who averages three yards per carry, and this isn't a statistical fluke either. The line may be bad, but they aren't that bad to make Best a 3 YPC guy automatically.
Overrated, but still pretty good

1. LB James Harrison- Does everything well.
2. S Troy Polamalu- Hey there, thanks for reading.
3. QB Ben Roethlisberger- Where would this offense be without him? Yeah, that was a rhetorical question buddy.
4. LB Lawrence Timmons- Simply a beast in the middle.
5. CB Ike Taylor- Great shutdown corner who is their only worthy player at the position.

6. WR Mike Wallace- Trust me, I'm not underrating this monster of a deep threat.
7. LB LaMarr Woodley- He may be a little bit low, but that says more about the Steelers' defensive talent than Woodley's.
8. TE Heath Miller- His great blocking is really overlooked.
9. LB James Farrior- A very reliable veteran, and seriously grammar doesn't really matter in these rankings guys.
10. RB Rashard Mendenhall- I'm starting to think that this guy may be a little overrated.

11. DE Brett Keisel- Team's best DE with Aaron Smith getting older and Ziggy Hood proving that he is a bust.
12. S Ryan Clark- He hits hard.
13. WR Hines Ward- Can still make the plays when you need him to. And by plays, I'm talking about the plays that keep the chains moving; he ain't Mike Wallace that's for sure.
14. WR Antonio Brown- Young and restless, he would be a huge benefactor of a real offensive line.
15. T Willie Colon- Believe me, I also think I have him too low; but the only good offensive lineman on the Steelers has rarely been healthy, and I question his ability to contribute on a week-to-week basis because of his lack of health.

16. DT Casey Hampton- He can still clog up them holes.
17. RB Isaac Redman- Watch the breakout, cuz it's coming.
18. LB Larry Foote- Would probably start for at least 20 other NFL teams.
19. WR Emmanuel Sanders- He can catch and run. What else do you want? Juggling?
20. CB Keenan Lewis- Only because I like the upside, and Max Starks is not a viable option on this list. Oh yeah, and Maurkice Pouncey stinks. Don't believe me? I really think that you shouldn't be buying into the hype, because his rookie brother is already killing him.

9/2011 Top 20 on Tampa Bay Bucs

September 30th 2011 16:58
1. QB Josh Freeman- Uh...the reason why they were above .500 last year. Talk about clutch performers, this guy can ball with the best of them in crunch time.

2. RB LeGarrette Blount- Elusive as hell, you gotta give this guy more credit. I mean, you've punched someone in the face before, right? I hope so, because you've devoided yourself of all manliness if not.

3. WR Mike Williams- The Bucs have a great young core on offense indeed

4. CB Aqib Talib- Mel Kiper Jr. was right on with this guy when he said he had all the tools to make big plays, but lacks the technique and can get beat rather easily. That's not to mention the off-the-field concerns with this knucklehead.

5. DT Gerald McCoy- No offense Mr. McCoy, but you know there's something wrong with the talent level on your team when he is one of your top five best players.

6. LB Quincy Black- An underrated linebacker, but it seems like he is rather high. He isn't, that's the Bucs for you.

7. TE Kellen Winslow- Hey Freeman, buddy, please throw it at this guy some more. He can play some damn good football.

8. SS Sean Jones- Has played great this season after a disappointing year in 2010.

9. DT Brian Price- He and McCoy are pretty good at bringing the heat up the middle.

10. LT Donald Penn- No matter how overrated I think this guy is, he's still not all bad.

11. WR Arrelious Benn- This ranking is based on potential all alone. He's gotta put it together himself so that the picture connects.

12. CB Ronde Barber- Was huge last game and is showing us that he still has some talent left.

13. DE Adrian Clayborn- Was last week his rookie breakout game? He was incredible after two poor weeks to begin the season. Although that game was against the lowly Sam Baker, he was still absolutely dominating.

14. LB Geno Hayes- Yeah, it's the Bucs.

15. WR Sammie Stroughter- No, your mom doesn't play for the Bucs.

16. DE Da'Quan Bowers- Remy Zero, please save me; this job is too tough for Superman.

17. TE Luke Stocker- I think I should just give up on these write-ups.

18. FB Earnest Graham- Party like it's 2007; it ain't the end of the world.

19. LB Mason Foster- You know your bad when I'm temped to put Kregg Lumpkin on this list. I think most of the Bucs best 20 players are young players with potential and nothing else.

20. WR Preston Parker- Now this guy I like as a potential darkhorse. He can play some ball.

Sorry for not posting yesterday. My computer got all messed up when I just finished my post that reviewed the second and third rounds of the NFL Draft. The post didn't go through, my computer broke down for some reason, and it has all left me quite angry at technology. I'll kick off May by looking at the best 20 players on the Texans. I did a post on their top 20 in November, and we'll see if there was a change. That post was on my other site www.sportgreat.com. Next to the players are their change in ranking.

1. WR Andre Johnson (Same
