It is time to rank the best defensemen in hockey. To my hockey readers, I hope this list isn't too terrible as I am just starting to get into hockey. My hockey knowledge is pretty low, but I will try my best to put together a decent looking list.

This is actually a pretty solid list. The only obvious ones that I think you are missing are Marc Staal (although maybe that's only because I am a Rangers fan), Dion Phaneuf, and maybe Tyler Myers, who was Rookie of the Year last year, but even those are debatable. Other than that it's pretty good, but I don't know if Sergei Gonchar deserves to be that high anymore (or even on the list at all).

Good stuff. Been trying to get into hockey as well. Like the list! Know most of the names from reading articles.

You're right. That Gonchar ranking was some big Pittsburgh bias from me. I was thinking about putting Staal on the list as well as Phaneuf, but I just decided to leave them off. They are definitely close to the top 30. But if Gonchar ever put it back together again, there's no denying that he would be a top 10 defenseman.
