Wimbledon Day 8 Schedule (Ladies' Final Eight)

July 1st 2008 10:41
The men have day eight off. The remaining eight women will be playing for the second straight day.

On Centre Court will be the highest ranked woman left in the tournament, Elena Dementieva against fellow Russian Nadia Petrova. I think Dementieva gets through to the semis with a straight set win today.

Also on Centre Court is #14 Agnieszka Radwanska who got passed a powerful Svetlana Kuznetsova yesterday, against #6 Serena Williams. I think Serena is much too strong for Radwanska and this match should end like the last Williams-Radwanska match, with the Williams on the winning end.

Venus is on Court 2 against Tamarine Tanasugarn who upset #2 Jelena Jankovic. I think Venus is going to be much too strong too, but I will give Tanasugarn an outside (way outside) chance for the miracle upset.

Also on Court 2 Jie Zheng vs. Nicole Vaidisova assure that there will be an unseeded player in the semis. I think Zheng's Olympic warm up continues with another win.

The rest of the schedule is filled with a mix of doubles, juniors, and senoirs. The Bryan brothers will close out the day on Centre Court.
