Lebron To Play In NY!
It is official. Even with 43 days to go until the official start of free agency in the basketball world, Lebron has fielded an offer to play his next 10 years in the Big Apple. While it may come as a shock to some in both Cleveland and New York, many insiders have said that this move has been in the works for some time. One source has come forward to say, "New York's lack of offense and inability to overwhelm inferior teams" was one of the driving forces behind this offer. Although unofficial at the time of publication, the offer is believed to be somewhere in the realm of 250-350 million American dollars per annum.
The sheer star power of Lebron's presence alone will have an immediate impact on both ticket sales in addition to an overwhelming demand for #24 (because #23 is currently taken by a rookie) blue and orange jerseys around New York.
"Lebron's ability to command the game and powder throwing techniques will certainly change the landscape in New York", says another official source.
The acquisition of Lebron will force opposing teams to reconfigure how they structure their defense.
The steep price of Lebron has forced some fans to question whether or not ticket prices will sore; this is almost a certainty. But fans should not believe this is only do to the acquisition of King James. In fact, for the last 20 years New York's ownership has never actually cared about the fans and that has been quite evident by the product they have sent out on a nightly basis .
When one fan was asked, "What do you think about Lebron James coming to New York?" The fan replied by saying, "What position will he play?"
This is a good question, as the Mets currently have a full roster. Unless he can play a mean center field in the absence of Carlos Beltran, Lebron will be banished to the bench. While this move proves that The Mets organization is willing to do anything to sell tickets it appears to be just another instance of Omar Minaya and the Wilpon family throwing good money after bad.
Oh, you thought I was talking about the Knicks? Sorry Lebron, maybe you should stay in Cleveland after all.
