U.S. Open Tennis Day 11 Schedule & Picks – 9-4-08

U.S. Open Tennis Day 11 Schedule & Picks – 9-4-08

In Arthur Ashe Stadium the day gets started at 11AM ET with a Women’s Doubles – Semi-Final match between No. 4 seeded Katrina Srebotnik & Ai Sugiyama vs. No. 10 seeded Lisa Raymond & Samantha Stosur.

I am picking the underdog team of American Raymond and Australian Stosur to win this one in three sets that will probably include at least one tie-break.

Following that match will be the Mixed Doubles – Finals with No. 5 seeded team of Cara Black & Leander Paes vs. unseeded Liezel Huber & Jamie Murray. I think this one will go to the favored No. 5 seeded team.

Next up on Center Court the Men’s Singles takes over. The first match is the quarter-finals match between Gilles Muller and Roger Federer. I think Federer wins this one somewhat easily. The only way there is a fourth set here is if Federer tires midway through the match.

Action in Ashe Stadium takes a break till 7PM ET after that match. When things start up again though there is an interesting and sure to be fun Exhibition Singles Semi-Finals match. It will be Michael Chang facing off against fellow American Todd Martin. I think Chang will win in straight sets.

Finally there is the main event of day 11, the other Men’s Singles Qtr. Finals match. No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic vs. Andy Roddick. This is sure to be a great match as long as neither of them get hurt midway through and they can finish. I think Roddick will get it done in five sets, four if there is an early tie-break and Djokovic tires early.

The rest of the day is packed full of Boys and Girls matches, with two other matches of note. On Court 11 the day kicks off with the Mixed Doubles Champions Invitational Finals match full of Americans. On one side of the net is Mary Joe Fernandez & MaliVai Washington on the other side Robin White & Luke Jensen. I think Fernandez and Washington win this one somewhat easily.

Later in the day on Court 11 is the Men’s Singles Championship Invitational Finals between Australian Pat Cash and American Jimmy Arias. I think the Australian wins this match in straight sets.

All in all it should be a pretty good day of tennis in Flushing.
