Preasons Week 1: What We Learned
August 16th 2010 15:27
The preseason teaches us a tiny bit about teams. In a sequence-like format, I will note different things that teams did.
1. Christopher Ivory has taken the place of Lynell Hamilton
2. Laurence Maroney is the goal line back in New England
3. Jonathan Casillas is a man to watch
4. Devin McCourty can return.
5. Matt Moore is still the starter in Carolina, and it isn't that close.
6. Greg Hardy has game.
7. Michael Vick is still useful.
8. Troy Williamson still has big play/deep threat ability.
9. Ryan Fitzpatrick should start for Buffalo.
10. Devin Thomas is a starter, Shanahan is just toying with his mind.
11. The only reason Snelling or Norwood will threaten Turner was last year's injury.
12. Dexter McCluster looked really good.
13. Matt Ryan should start relying on Tony to get him out of trouble.
14. As I have always said, Dennis Dixon should be starting in place of Leftwich.
15. Calvin Johnson is everything in the red zone for the Lions.
16. Colt McCoy is not starting right off. At least he shouldn't.
17. T.J. Ward won't fully replace Sean Jones, but he will make them not miss Jones.
18. Tell me why Morgan Burnett is starting over Derrick Martin?
19. Rookie John Skelton is a bigger threat to Leinart than Anderson, but I like Leinart's chances.
20. Arian Foster should start for the Texans.
21. Jacoby Jones is a star in the making. Everyone is saying it. Believe it.
22. Darryl Sharpton is a rookie to keep an eye on. Xavier Adibi should not start.
23. Sage Rosenfels should be Favre's successor.
24. Logan Payne should really be over Jaymar Johnson on the depth chart.
25. Ryan Mathews is the real deal.
26. Devin Aromashodu needs more love out of Martz.
27. Darrell Stuckey is a rookie that needs to be benched in favor of Steve Gregory.
28. Rookie Cam Thomas should start at DT for San Diego.
29. Vince Young has a lot of job security.
30. Charlie Whitehurst should spell Hasselbeck.
31. Javon Ringer will get carries, but CJ is still the goal line guy.
32. Seattle's Mike Williams has some serious big play potential.
33. Josh Wilson is looking like he deserves that starting spot, but Thurmond is a good 3 guy.
34. Anthony Dixon looks like a very good backup for Gore.
35. Consider Brady Quinn out of the position battle.
36. Bernard Scott is a very good and underrated backup, but the goal line carries are for Benson.
37. Brandon Lloyd is slightly better than Demaryius Thomas.
38. Dhani Jones is one of the best leaders and linebackers in this league.
