Ana Ivanovic and Rafael Nadal roll into the quarterfinals.
There were no real surprises at Roland Garros on Sunday.
On the men’s side, #2 Rafa won easily, #3 Djokovic had a little more trouble in winning his match, and Ernests Gulbis continued his strong charge toward the quarterfinals. Joining them with a win today was #19 Nicolas Almagro who needed two tie-breaks to beat Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.
On the women’s side, #2 Ana Ivanovic didn’t lose a single game in beating Petra Cetkovska. #3 Jelena Jankovic had trouble again in winning her match. During the match she had a few visits with the trainer on court but ended up winning her second set tie-break to win in straight sets.#10 Patty Schnyder also won in straight sets to move on. The only upset of the day was unseeded Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain beating #26 seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta.
In the morning the remaining eight men and eight women will take to the clay to decide who rounds out the quarterfinals. See if the final American Robby Ginepri can move on to the quarterfinals and a battle with #1 Roger Federer. Also watch to see which of the five Russian women playing Monday will move on.
