Football Storylines for the Season
September 2nd 2008 23:54
As we get closer to the NFL season, we must look at a few storylines that are going to develop overtime and why these could be significant in more ways than one. It could be a fortune told on where the teams future stands. We can expect some teams doing better than anticipated and likewise being worse as well.
1) Can the New England Patriots rebound after nearly getting perfection? The answer right now is yes they will be fine. I don't see a perfect year happening but it can be overlooked if they win the Super Bowl of course. 16-0 is a very difficult to pull off and New England did it once, I just don't see how they can do it twice.
2) Will the Browns be successful after coming off a 10-6 season and make the playoffs? That's a very tough question to answer. As much as I want to say yes this team will make the playoffs for sure and be better than last, I have to be a bit cautious. As a common trend with Cleveland teams, if you set the bar very high, they will fail. I'm a bit cautious but I do believe they found their Quarterback and can bring some stability there in order to win games.
3) Is Brett Favre going to adjust to the Jets? As much as I hate hearing Brett Favre stories on a consistent basis, this is a tough question. It's not going to be enough to propel them over the Pats because quite frankly it's a new atmosphere and it's a rather difficult one. I do not see a Super Bowl appearance though this franchise hasn't been to one since Super Bowl 3.
4) What will Aaron Rodgers do now that he's the starter? Well, let's put it this way. He's got a lot to prove and big shoes to fill. Will he be able to do it? Nobody knows for sure. Only way to find out with him is see what happens.
5) Could Miami be better last year? It's not that hard considering they just won one game all of last season and that's because Baltimore took pity on them and let them win. This team could win four games and it'd be an improvement.
I would consider these some of the main stories going on for the regular season. It's going to be an unusual season. I guess the best thing to say is expect the unexpected.
