Chapman and Lincecum Make Statements
September 25th 2010 15:45
Aroldis Chapman was labeled as "extremely risky" when the Cincinnati Reds signed him to a lucrative deal this offseason. Chapman hasn't pitched much, and for good reason. He will not be Stephen Strasburg and suffer a huge injury. The young pitcher has been kept fresh for the future. Not only that, but he threw baseball's first ever 105 mph pitch. Chapman is now the fastest pitcher in history. He beat out big names like the Big Unit, Nolan Ryan, The Rocket, and Joel Zumaya.
Tim Lincecum threw a two hitter to keep the Giants on top in the West. Lince showed how great he is and why he is one of the greatest pitchers of the last ten years. Heck, I bet he will be a Hall of Famer by the end of his career. Lincecum is the best player today, and nobody can question that. Jimenez is great but he is streaky, Lincecum is consistent year in and year out.
There are a lot of twenty win pitchers this year. Adam Wainwright became the third after CC and Doc respectively. Wainwright is one of my favorite players in the league. I would rather have him than Halladay. Call me what you want, but I really would.
Let's just say I was completely right about the Phillies. If you read earlier posts, you would know what I am talking about. Jose Bautista keeps the club-fest going. What are the Blue Jays taking? Hopefully not steroids. Still, this is a historic season for the come-out-of-nowhere outfielder who once was a seldom used, light-hitting third baseman with the Pirates.
The Rays and Yankees are the AL's division winners and wild card winners. It's either-or at this point. Speaking of the AL East, David Ortiz will not take a pay cut to remain with the Red Sox. The Sox have an option on him. Next year, he will make 12.5 million. Now that's too much money for a 34 year old DH.
New D'Backs GM Kevin Towers once "GM'd" Greg Maddux when Maddux pitched for the 'Dres. Towers wants Maddux on his pitching staff, but Maddux loves his job with his beloved Chicago Cubs. The Cubs need all the stability they can get with the loss of old Lou.
