Can't stand ya...

It looks like the final entry count for Day 1 of the World Series of Poker Main Event will be about 1300. That’s huge, and it’s just Day 1. The players have gone to dinner. We’ll update at the end of the day, but it’s been a short run for many hopefuls already and several more will fall before the night is over.
Jason Alexander is eliminated with pocket As. Pocket As seem to be getting cracked quite a bit early today but since we can’t see all the hands, it’s hard to tell what percentage that happened. As the night moved on, the As seemed to be holding their own.
Raymond Rhame is also gone. Rhame made the final table in 2007 and became one of my favorite players to watch. He just kinda looks like anyone’s grandpa.
Dan Harrington, the 1995 winner and the man who made back-to-back final tables in 2003 and 2004 is gone; after flopping a pair of tens and going all in, he fell to pocket Kings. “Action Dan” has only had one WSOP cash since his back-to-back final tables, so you really gotta wonder how many more events he’s going to enter.
Chad Brown ended his successful 2008 WSOP when he was flushed out. Brown, still looking for his first bracelet, cashed five times this year and has 24 WSOP cashes total.
Also gone are Jimmy Tran and Gavin Smith, as well as 2007 runner-up Tuan Lam.
The top stack is now over 100,000 and several are over 90,000. As the final two rounds of the night are played out, it will be interesting to see how aggressive the large stacks play. Do you play to survive the day or be a bully?

Well that, plus Orble does have Poker listed under sport too, but I bet they'd include ESPN in their reasoning.

The guys aren't athletes (I mean heck I play and on a good day I could jog a 15 minute mile...lol). But then again many NASCAR drivers are far from being athletes (althought the new younger guys are most definitely in shape) but it's one of the United States' top sports.
So I dunno what is and what isn't. But poker is huge and well, pokerwrap.com was already taken (yes, I really checked), so here I am.
But I'd bet that Saturday's WSOP has more action then the Venus-Serena final. I like them both, but I hate when they play each other.
