2010 NFL Mock Draft PIcks 1-10
February 4th 2010 21:53
Its my second favorite time of the year (first being opening day in baseball for those who care about what it was), which is getting ready for the NFL draft! This is the time of year where I dig deep for my inner Mel Kiper to give my best insight on what I think is gonna happen in New York in April. Now this is using up to date Scouts Inc information on every one thats available now. Also I had to break it up into a couple parts because its so dang ole long. Let us Begin.
1. St Louis Rams- Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska - Ok so no big surprise here who was gonna go first. Coach Steve Spagnuolo needs to build a defensive like he had in New York. Having Suh in the middle and 3rd year man Chris Long should help a run defense that was awful all around. Yes i know they need help at QB but its a deep draft and they get that in later rounds.
2. Detroit Lions - Eric Berry S Tennessee - I was torn here between was more important, D-line or Secondary. With Berry you get not only the best safety in the draft but you get a leader in the defense. Last year they got the face of the franchise and of the offense, well now they give a face to the defense. The lions are doing a great job drafting smart in the draft and this no exception.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma - The Bucs are getting the second best defensive tackle in this years draft. He will be the anchor to a defensive line that has shown very little ability to stop the run or get pressure on the quarterback. He brings size and quickness that will make him one of the bright stars of the future.
4. Washington Redskins - Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma - I don't care what anyone says Bradford is still the best quarterback in this years draft and maybe last years draft. Regardless of his injury he still is the franchise quarterback that Mike Shanahan needs in an organization that needs to turn things around. They have been underachieving for years and the folks in D.C are getting a little tired of not having a winning football team.
5. Kansas City Chiefs - Russell Okung OT Oklahoma State - If the Chiefs offense is gonna improve under new coordinator Charlie Weis they need to keep Matt Cassel off his rear. Okung will help build that offensive line that needs to start improving on pass protection and continue establishing the run game.
6. Seattle Seahawks - Joe Haden CB Florida - Pete Caroll has got his hands full in the cold pacific north west, needless to say you aren't in southern California anymore. Helping a young D would be a shut down corner like Joe Haden. The line will improve on its own but Haden gives them a leader in the secondary that got scorched last season.
7. Cleveland Browns - Rolando McClain MLB Alabama - This is by far my favorite player in this years draft. McClain by far is the best defensive player in my opinion, he is the next Ray Lewis. He will turn around a defensive that could't even stop me. Mike Holmgren would be a fool not to take him.
8. Oakland Raiders - Trent Williams OT Oklahoma - Ok raider nation relax for one second. i know you have gotten burned with bad O-linemen in the first round but you need it. Trent Williams will help the running game tremendously and protect who ever will be under center. I believe the Raiders offensive will be explosive next year. Book it.
9. Buffalo Bills - Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech - Bills fans start getting this name in your brains. Morgan is one of the best defensive ends that I've seen in college in years. He quickness off the end is second to none, he will be raising hell in the NFL.
10. Denver Broncos - C.J. Spiller RB Clemson - What a shock! The Broncos getting a running back!? Josh Mcdaniels needs to have a balanced offense that last year fell right flat in it face. Spiller brings speed to Denver that many say is the second coming of Chris Johnson, we shall see.
